What goes on in your usual day, and how do you make sure it is productive?
I used to be a daily contributor to my sites, but now I just manage. This mostly comprises assessing other people’s work, giving comments, and, if required, changing our standard operating procedures (SOPs) to more clearly explain how to carry out particular jobs.
It might be tempting to do the inconsequential activities that feel nice to finish, but this usually results in the truly critical duties that are stressful not being performed. I try to be productive by prioritizing the most important things each day.
In order to run a successful firm, we keep detailed records on everything. We use Trello as our content management system to assign articles to authors, Airtable to divide the site into clusters for internal linking, and G Sheets for content improvements broken down by each section of each article (such as the introduction, frequently asked questions, and featured excerpts).
How do you give concepts life?
The main things we need to bring to life on our website are either fresh content or a new site design for presenting those items.
For articles, this comprises research, preparation, and the development of a brief that makes it easier for the writer to deliver top-notch material.
We must think of creative ways to interest readers and make it as easy as possible to show the information they need while developing a website.
Many of our ideas at Lasso center on improving customer-facing features. Our clients frequently let us know exactly what they need so that we can build it, and we prioritize these based on what we can supply realistically and do so in a spectacular way.
The Wirecutter-style tables that compare three goods in a row weren’t present when Lasso first introduced its beautiful single-product affiliate displays. Customers asked for these, so we created them after figuring out exactly what they wanted (pros and disadvantages, price, star ratings).

I’m fascinated by AI and worried about it.
For good reason, it is the sole conversational topic.
It improves everyone’s ability for creativity. You may quickly create 3D models, films, photos, text, and tables with only a few basic prompts. Some of these creation tools, such 2D and 3D CAD modeling, picture and video editing, and editing, won’t have as steep learning curves.
Amazingly, it has become so democratic that you can play 10 different roles from the comfort of your own bedroom.
It is worrisome, though, for the same reason. What is the incumbents’ competitive edge given that entry barriers are going down and that content is becoming easier to replicate?
What is a productive habit, specifically?
I set a timer for an hour and work on only one project during that time. This was a labor of love for me.
I intend to finish four 60-minute intervals each day because I want to increase my focus and attention span compared to others who only perform 25-minute Pomodoros. After these four hours, the rest of my workday is spent on routine duties like communications that are not sprint-related.
What advice would you give to yourself in the past?
Your learning will proceed more quickly if you experiment more in your job. I invested a lot of time in developing my content, writing, CRO, and editing abilities, but I didn’t face many challenges.
I was good at these things, so I could write every day at my laptop and control the outcome—the words on the page.
I didn’t push myself beyond of my comfort zone enough to do new things or do enough outreach to build brands. We are currently strong in content but poor in other areas as a result. We may have had better results if I had tried with link-building and other strategies more.
Tell us anything that practically no one seems to agree on.
Any type of entrepreneurship, social mobility, or even innovation may be in its final few years now.
If artificial intelligence can perform human activities, how can you rise if you grow up at the bottom of society’s economic ladder?
I’m worried that AI will aggravate inequality and make it very difficult for people to rise in society since innovation will only come from the designers of the next AI models.
It is clear even at this early stage that many of the quickly growing, VC-funded companies are just OpenAI-based APIs. Apart from a fantastic user interface, what new ideas did Jasper bring to the table?
The cost of producing real innovation will rise to the point that only large organizations will be able to afford it, pushing it entirely out of the grasp of the common individual. James Dysons won’t be tinkering and inventing items in their shed any longer; if AI exceeds us in innovation, I dread that there won’t be many possibilities for individuals or small teams to contribute and outperform.
What is one thing you usually do that you also encourage others to do?
Don’t use social media. I used to spend a lot of time surfing Reddit, but I’ve since removed the app. You develop the characteristics of the people you spend the most time with, and I was exhibiting negative Reddit-like characteristics.
I use Twitter to promote my own brand, thus I now have the app on my phone, but I also want to deactivate it.
What do you do when you’re overwhelmed or unable to concentrate?
Continue with the work that is weighing me down. There is never a good moment to put something off; the capacity to put something off is a privilege, and realizing this helps you avoid it. However, this awareness gives you confidence and gives you the motivation to carry out the task.
What is a tactic that has helped you grow your company or advance your career?
Make progress toward your goals every day. If you can break down a big goal you have for a year or more into manageable daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and then make progress every day, you’ll be surprised at how much you can achieve.
I’m not very gifted or brilliant, but I succeed at just moving forward every day.
What is the biggest failure you’ve ever had in your career, how did you overcome it, and what did you learn from it?
At the age of 17, I launched my first business, a streetwear company, in 2014. From the outside, it looked like a huge success since we attracted 16,000 Instagram followers in a short period of time. I truly thought they would become quite famous since we did a great job photographing the ladies for the pieces.
However, despite having a sizable fan base, we could not succeed in making any sales. I was foolish and purchased a lot of inventory and a wide range of product categories, sizes, and colors since it made me feel like a “real” business. If I had been smart, I would have just made a pre-order, printed the products when they were needed, and shipped them out.
I lost money and had to give up the project after putting around half of my money in it.
Which business idea would you be prepared to impart to our readers?
Almost every design software is vulnerable to disruption from LLMs and AI. Think about the options for specialty design: different types of 2D modeling or 3D CAD, specialist software for certain industrial niches, or different file formats like SVGs, emojis, etc. There is a ton of information.

It is undervalued to be lax. We’ve included tools like GeekBot for standardizing the daily reports each team member creates, which helps individuals stay accountable and makes it possible for others to understand what they’re working on and how they may help if they run into trouble. What was your best $100 buy recently?
To replace the ones that broke months ago, I recently spent slightly more than $100 on a new set of AirPods. Now that I can listen to podcasts while on the train or traveling, a good podcast may pay for itself in just one hour! Why I waited so long to replace them is beyond me.
Do you have a favorite book or podcast that has been really valuable to you?
I find the Niche Pursuits podcast and a few others to be very valuable. My favorite book of all time is Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations because it endures beautifully even after thousands of years and is such an essential read for a happy person today.
while Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi is a book that I think everyone should read while they are young.
What movie or TV show have you lately enjoyed, and why?
I saw Everything, Everywhere, All at Once last week, and it was fantastic! It was so creative and succeeded in expressing all the deep and emotional material in a way that allowed everyone to still find it fun.
Full Swing, a Netflix documentary on golf, was also enjoyable. Golf sounds rather uninteresting to me; but, the series gave it drama and excitement.
