What are you currently working on and who are you?
I am the owner of the business, Neeraj Gupta. I’m 31 years old and live in Singapore right now. The demands of salons, spas, yoga and tattoo studios, medical retreats, and other businesses in the beauty, health, and wellness sector are met by Salonist, an all-inclusive salon software.
This approach aims to reduce the confusion salon and spa operators deal with on a regular basis. Capabilities, speed, and reliability are the three pillars on which Salonist’s technology is built in order to enable end-to-end business activities. Owners can manage daily operations, enhance customer experiences, and boost income with this essential Salon and Spa solution.
Due to its excellent service and features, many SMBs have started using it instead of wasting their time on administrative activities. Everything is managed by it, including online reservations, inventory control, point-of-sale (POS) operations, management of several locations, client and staff administration, report and analytics, and marketing.
In this role, it is my duty to provide service that is both up to and better than the standards of my consumers. To keep Salonist up to date with the newest salon trends and technology, I like to periodically add or tweak its features. I always concentrate on the Software’s foundations, such as high-quality text and graphics, website performance, errors and warnings, responsiveness, etc., to make it user-friendly and transparent.
What is your background, and how did you come up with this idea?
I introduced Awebstar Technologies to Singapore and significantly expanded the business when I first started my IT career. A salon owner once contacted us about creating their website. We carried out the task as required and within the allotted period. The owner of the salon has spoken about the difficulties they have with making appointments and selling products online.
In light of this, I’ve made the decision to thoroughly research this subject. After completing research and visiting nearby salons, I discovered the shortcomings in the cosmetics sector.
My ambition to develop a system that may provide salons and spas a straightforward but satisfying experience arose. I sought to give them a system that is supported and ensures greater foot traffic and revenue in addition to making it easier to handle daily operational tasks. Their administrative responsibilities must be entirely dropped as a result.
I then launched Salonist after learning what the salon’s main requirements were. This cloud-based salon software was created to address all of the problems salons face on a regular basis and raise the value of their brand.
How did you turn a concept into a finished product?
Before creating user stories, we performed market research. Jira is where we save user stories, and our scrum directors set developer assignments based on those stories. We have experience with the software sector since 2011, thus we know how to make the system work well.
We first made the beta version available before installing it at a few Singapore Paragon Mall sites. In response to their suggestions and needs, we improved the system. The fact that we have a ticketing system where customers may make requests is the best aspect. They are assessed by our technical staff, and if they are advantageous to everyone, we add them to the system.
What marketing techniques did you use to grow your company?
I was conscious that software ownership, maintenance, and promotion are different activities when I thought about developing the Salon solution. So, once Salonist was introduced, I registered it under Salon Software. After creating social media profiles, marketing campaigns started. We’ve started digital marketing for organic traffic concurrently. As a result, the Software appeared more frequently in Google’s search results.
Following the campaign, people started registering and utilizing Salonist since we provide a 14-day free trial. People who were interested in the software came up to us and signed up. Not to add, we received a lot of referral business. Our program is now highly rated and used globally.
What are you doing right now? What are your long-term goals?
Everyone wants their business to grow and succeed in the future, and I am not an exception. No specific revenue amount may be revealed.
My main goal is to deliver on the demands that salon owners have of my program. As a consequence, I provide my team members the freedom to stay up to date with new or modern features and offer support and maintenance services around-the-clock, every day of the week. We currently have over 90 employees, and I will surely hire more qualified and skilled workers in the future to put creative ideas into practice and boost sales, income, and customer volume. The number of Salonist users worldwide is about 10,000.
There isn’t a statistic like that yet that has to be improved. Currently, our clients are pleased with the software, and our support team is ready to help them if there are any issues.
What have you discovered to be your most significant lessons since establishing Salonist?
I am learning a lot and am learning a new lesson every day. And when it comes to Salonist, I’m mostly worried about broadening its appeal. Therefore, whenever customers have queries or maintenance issues, I prefer to engage with them. It is crucial to follow up with them on a regular basis to find out whether they are happy with our services or if there is room for improvement.
To develop and incorporate new ideas into Salonist, I plan weekly meetings with the team. Every assignment must be completed successfully within the allotted time, and I am working on this.
What were the toughest obstacles you overcame? What were your biggest mistakes?
It is impossible to avoid challenges and mistakes when running a corporation. They pose no threat to the company in any way if they are quickly defeated. I’ve learnt a lot about running a business, so I haven’t run into any problems yet, and I’ve tried to do everything with more efficiency and honesty.
What equipment and sources would you recommend?
For daily business goals, Jira and Trello are often used. I really like how Zoho works. Zoho is what motivates me. To help users improve and grow their companies, we are adding new goods to our add-ons.
